What is in the library catalogue?
The library catalogue contains bibliographical records and other information for books, journals, and for other types of materials such as DVDs, maps, music scores.
For example:
1. Books available in:
For printed books, the catalogue will contain the:
- bibliographical record of the book.
- physical location of the book.
b. Electronic format (e-books) only
For electronic books, the catalogue will contain the:
- bibliographical record of the book.
- link to the actual content of the e-book.
c. Both print and electronic format (e-books)
For books availble in both formats, the catalogue will contain the:
- bibliographical record of the book.
- physical location of the printed book.
- link to the actual content of the e-book.
2. Journals
a. Printed Journals
For printed journals, the catalogue will contain the bibliographical record only, and will indicate which library within the consortium carries that journal.
b. Electronic Journals
For electronic journals, the catalogue will contain the bibliographical record as well as a link to the content of the journal.
